Doula Immersions

Scholarship Fund 2021

Your Contribution Matters.

We invite you to join us in making Fasciatherapy DBM and trauma-informed Birth Doula Accompaniment sustainable and accessible to Ukrainian refugees arriving in Berlin.

We prepare doulas to become
Guardians of Intimacy’.

WE EQUIP AND NURTURE EACH PERSON GOING THROUGH OUR IMMERSION AND MENTORSHIP with competences to accompany the widest spectrum of individuals and families as they enter the unknowns of conception, pregnancy, loss, labor and the newborn period.

WE FACILITATE LEARNING THAT HONORS THE BIRTH COMPANION as an embodied human being who can offer a quality of presence and enhanced perception for the care and well-being of those we serve.

OUR EDUCATION IS A UNIQUELY INTERDISCIPLINARY ONE that we believe many more passionate about this calling should have access to, in order to represent and hold space for the needs of underserverd individuals and families optimistic about embarking on this journey with dignity and joy.

OUR SCHOLARSHIP FUND IS NAMED IN HONOR OF THE LEGACY OF ONE OF OUR DEAR FRIENDS AND HEROINES, THE LATE CLAUDIA BOOKER. An elder doula, midwife, lawyer, and judge, she collaborated and cheered us on in a global effort to bring more equity in care, and knowledge about the biomechanics, anatomies, physiologies, and historical disparities in obstetric care.

The Philosophy

Through any aspect of transition into life or loss, we aim to prepare doulas in being steady and stable in their presence so that the person they are accompanying finds access to their internal resources for adaptation.

“The perspective and the world view linked to the Doula Immersion was vital. The teaching was profound and essential and fundamental, it was perfect.”

JOHARA BELLALI, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST, DOULA (CENTER FOR DOULA PATHWAYS)

“Camalo Gaskin has mastered the craft of delivering captivating lectures on obstetric culture and bias. The students go on to reference her lectures and material in their exam essays and talk passionately about the awakening they experience from this new body of knowledge. She encourages them to be both analytical, interdisciplinary, and empathic in their thinking.”

DR. JAVIELA EVANGELISTA, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, NEW YORK CITY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY, CUNY

Core Values

The CENTER FOR DOULA PATHWAYS was founded in vision of a new, coherent approach to birth companionship.
Our approaches stem from two core values that equip birth companions with necessary scope, skills and vision to be actively engaged in creating a shift within birth cultures and within their own confidence in intimate encounters in their practice:

1) The curriculum is INTERSECTIONAL, we develop principles and practices which respect that each person comes with complex identities and privileges that uniquely impact their experiences of life, which are often magnified during pregnancy and especially in the environments and transitions of birth.

2) The curriculum is INTERDISCIPLINARY, in that it is divided naturally into two entirely different fields of action, which mutually enrich each other: birth work and perceptual body work.

“The demystification of complicated anatomy and scientific concepts, a way to use them in a practical way for pregnancy and birth, and the actual experience of Marcello’s work were very important cornerstones of the Doula Immersion. The most profound part was integrating all of it and practising myself on another participant with his guidance, it brought it all into my understanding.”

ALICE PATTERSON, PRENATAL YOGA TEACHER, DOULA (CENTER FOR DOULA PATHWAYS)

“I’ve learned and keep learning not only practical resources for my work as a doula, but also how to love profundity and be without fear of it.”

TATI PEREIRA, PSYCHOTHERAPIST, DOULA (CENTER FOR DOULA PATHWAYS)

Who Are Our Partners?

We share a vision for enriching the quality of human connection.
We understand that every newborn family shapes the future of humanity. The quality of care that welcomes them at the beginning of their journey, represents a spark that initiates all of their dreams.
We are looking to welcome one-time or ongoing donors who understand the value of intimate care from birth
companions who are well-prepared to be fully present for a fuller spectrum of families as they step into newborn life.
As we enter 2021, join us in this turning point into a new era to nurture and educate birth companions that prioritizes presence as an essential element of our time.

“Camalo Gaskin is unique.”

DR. MICHEL ODENT, PIONEERING OBSTETRICIAN, SURGEON AND CHILDBIRTH SPECIALIST

“I think this information that Camalo is presenting is NEED TO KNOW info.”

JAN TRITTEN, FOUNDER, MIDWIFERY TODAY

“Marcello’s guidance was a life changing experience. I had experienced different bodywork techniques but his teaching at the Doula Immersion was like an ‘AHA moment’. Everything made sense for the first time. I will take this with me not only in my doula practice but in my life.”

AYAKO VERDIER, DOULA (CENTER FOR DOULA PATHWAYS)
